Preamble
The Code of Ethics is an integral standard for CYC practice across Canada. It is considered a living document and as such is reviewed and revised as necessary. The CCCYA supported and participated in the latest 2022 revision which was released by ACYCP in September 2023. This latest revision marks an update to the last reviewed and updated version from 1995.
The CCCYCA is proud to adopt this latest re vision of the Code of Ethics: Standards for Practice of North American Child and Youth Care Professionals which reflects the progression of Child and Youth Care practice over the past three decades. This revision will continue to act as a moral compass and set ethical standards for Child and Youth Care practice throughout Canada.
The Child and Youth Care Code of Ethics incorporates five areas of responsibility for Child and Youth Care Professionals:
- I. Personal Commitment to Ethical Practice
- II. Commitment to Ethical Practice with Children, Youth, and Families
- III. Commitment to Ethical Practice within Organizations
- IV. Commitment to Advancing the Field of Child and Youth Work
- V. Commitment to Ethical Representation of the CYC Profession in the Community
- VI. Ethical Commitments of CYC Leadership
