AWARD NOMINATIONS

CCCYCA Visionary Award

Visionary noun: a person who has clear ideas about what should happen or be done in the future. (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/visionary)

The CCCYCA Visionary Award was created in October 2014 at the annual general meeting. The purpose of the award was to honour and offer recognition to members of the child and youth care field who have made significant contributions to the growth and evolution of Canadian CYC practice, education and professional advancement. Recipients of this award would be acknowledged as having clearly expressed and acted on their support to practitioners, literature and professional CYC organizations in Canada.

The Visionary Award is given by the board of the Canadian Council.

Procedures

  1. CCCYCA Directors bring forward names from their province, or offer personal nominations, offering information as to how the nominee fits with the intention of the Award; by that of a 250 word submission addressing the three pillars of the award (the individual has made significant contributions to the growth and evolution of Canadian CYC practice, educational and professional advancement) and if the nominee is aware of the nomination.
  2. Nominees shall not be sitting members of the CCCYCA;
  3. Nominees do not need to be a member of their provincial association;
  4. CCCYCA as a whole discusses the nominations during the conference call prior to the National Conference, and determines a recipient or recipients;
  5. There is no requirement that the Visionary Award has to be awarded.
  6. There may be more than one Visionary Award recipient in any given conference year.
  7. Award nomination deadline must reflect sufficient time for Directors to review, minimally one week prior, to the date of decision. Ideally the decision regarding the recipient(s) will be made 3 months prior to the date of the National Conference.
  8. Recipient(s) may be notified by a representative of the CCCYCA in a timely manner so that they may choose to attend the upcoming National Conference to accept the award in person.

CCCYCA Child and Youth Care Award

The National Child and Youth Care Award brings forward a peer nominated individual who has a career that serves as an example to others of the best practices of a child and youth care professional.

The purpose of the CCCYCA Award Program is two fold:

  • To provide much deserved recognition to Child and Youth Care practitioners who have demonstrated outstanding skills, knowledge, advocacy on behalf of clients and dedication to the profession.
  • To hold out such role models to inspire others towards outstanding practice and to promote greater public awareness of the important work done by Child and Youth Care Practitioners.

This award program is not intended to be a contest. The CCCYCA believes that by profiling and highlighting the wonderful work being done by any deserving Child and Youth Care Practitioner, we bring recognition to us all and to our profession.

Procedures

  1. Nominations come from within Provincial Child and Youth Care Associations (Member Associations), or individually from Council Members (all members of a provincial child and youth care association are members of Canadian Council) and must be forwarded to the Awards Committee via electronic nomination form prior to the national conference to qualify for the award to be announced at the conference.
